Well known in the medical arena, X-ray Computed Tomography (CT) and the technology behind it has advanced rapidly in recent years, putting the analysis of all types of materials within an easy reach. For example, a low-energy characteristic X-ray source is now routinely used to image soft materials with sub-micron resolution and machine-learning has become a tool readily available for segmentation of 3D CT images. In this talk, Rigaku experts will introduce the basics of X-ray computed tomography and highlight some unique applications in life science and materials science research.
