MIT is a hotbed for innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth. Every day, we invite outside partners in: hospitals, universities, industry, foundations, and other collaborators. And venture capitalists, technology and life-science companies, and start-up incubators energize the Kendall Square area because of our deep commitment to bringing our discoveries to the marketplace—pushing knowledge and technology out beyond the campus where they will have the most impact.
The world needs MIT’s insights and ingenuity more than ever—and increasingly, these strengths intersect at the nanoscale. MIT.nano will be the centerpiece of the Institute’s new Innovation Initiative. And the discoveries and inventions produced in its clean rooms, imaging labs, and prototyping spaces will define the future of innovation.
Moreover, MIT.nano will support innovation expressed through other Institute-wide initiatives and centers: the MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI), the Institute for Medical Engineering and Science (IMES), the David H. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, and burgeoning programs to address water, climate, poverty, and other grave challenges.
