Join STUDIO.nano for a special event:
A look into Lyme
Date: July 24, 2025
Time: 4:30 PM — 6:30 PM ET
Location: MIT.nano East Lobby
A brief discussion on the work and the origins of the MAESTRO study will be led by Michal Tal, Principal Scientist and Associate Scientific Director, MIT Center for Gynepathology Research.
In this special exhibition, scientists from the Tal Research Group from the MIT Department of Biological Engineering, unveil stunning new imagery of Borrelia, the bacteria responsible for Lyme disease, captured through cutting-edge, label-free imaging technologies. These images not only illuminate the microscopic battlefield between pathogens and immune cells, but also reveal a surprising aesthetic beauty that emerges through the development of new imaging techniques.
This event also serves as a celebration and community introduction to the MAESTRO study, a groundbreaking clinical research effort investigating chronic inflammatory conditions like Lyme disease and endometriosis, with a special focus on sex-specific immune responses. MAESTRO is designed not only to advance scientific discovery, but to engage patients, clinicians, and the public in shaping new approaches to diagnosis, treatment, and understanding. Join us at the MIT.nano first floor digital gallery for an evening at the intersection of biology, technology, and visual storytelling.
