Next user meeting July 22

The next MIT.nano user meeting will be Wednesday July 22 from 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. Please check your email for meeting login information, or contact us at mitnano.mit.edu.

Approximate agenda:

  1. Lab usage and recent observations during our continued ramp-up
  2. Our plans and timelines for user-training (tool specific, as well as new user orientations)
  3. Updated information or timelines on external user access (If available)
  4. Tool status and issues of existing tools, updates on new tools currently being installed, and a very short sneak-preview of the phase II tool move planning
  5. Any tool-specific or more in-depth questions: please email those to us ahead of time at mitnano-feedback@mit.edu to help us provide you with better responses in the meeting.
  6. Open discussion: how are things working out for you? what are your concerns for next month or two, as well as longer-term?
  7. If you are not comfortable sharing your thoughts in the larger user-meeting, and instead want to discuss feedback, suggestions or problems in a smaller setting (or even 1-on-1), contact us to set something up!

Reminder: Surprise power shutdown in Fab-39 July 7-9.

Important: This does not impact Fab-12. This applies only to Fab-39.

Tools will be put into a safe state by the staff on Tuesday afternoon (or earlier if the tools are not reserved/used)

The power shutdown will take place on Wednesday morning, July 8.

As soon as power is restored on Wednesday and staff can re-enter the building, tools will be turned on. There will be some dispersion; complex tools may not be re-started until Thursday, while simpler tools may be immediately available on Wednesday. Check CORAL to see when tools are up!

Other reminders on lab safety, based on recent observations:

  • No shorts and open toe shoes in the lab
  • No food in the lab
  • No headsets or ear-buds

All of these have good physical, chemical, or other reasons behind them (it’s a useful exercise to see if you can identify them)
