Abstract
Nanostructuring a material can unlock new and exciting properties. At the same time, however, it complicates its characterization, as nanomaterials are often too small for classical bulk techniques and too large for the tools of molecular science. In this talk, we will use real research examples to explore how the X-ray scattering features of nanomaterials differ from those of bulk materials, and how small- and wide-angle scattering can be combined to obtain a complete picture of nanomaterial structure.
Biography
Stefano is a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Chemical Engineering at MIT. He graduated in 2023 from the Italian Institute of Technology and the University of Notre Dame. His research focuses on advancing scattering-based characterization methods for complex, hierarchical nanomaterials.
