MIT.nano is always accepting submissions for the Annual Research Report.
The Report spans activities of research groups that utilize the shared laboratories and services of MIT.nano. It is formatted as a series of one-page abstracts, showcasing student and postdoc research, as well as profiles of principal investigators (PIs).
We invite MIT PIs and their research group members to submit individual project abstracts to the Annual Research Report. We are now accepting submissions on a rolling basis throughout the academic year, to allow for researchers to submit their work at a time that is right for them. We are also asking each PI to submit a simple, one-page profile of their research group, as described below.
The Annual Research Report compilation is a highly visible and effective way to tell the world about the challenges that interest us and our progress toward addressing them. It is a valuable resource for prospective students and postdocs, current and future members of MIT.nano's Industry Consortium, and potential research sponsors.
At MIT.nano, we are following the Annual Report guidelines and processes that were developed and perfected by the Microsystems Technology Laboratories (MTL) over their many years of managing the shared fab facilities. We are grateful to MTL for their partnership in the Annual Research Report.

Faculty profile guidelines
- The research interests and contact information block are located on the first page, condensing the entire document into two pages (profile + theses awarded).
- Maximum limit of three lines of text for your research interests statement.
- We don’t request a list of research collaborators.
- List undergraduate researchers.
- Include first names instead of initials for personnel listings.
- Publications are labeled “selected publications” due to the space limit.
- Include each graduate’s department affiliation and date of award in the theses awarded section.
The faculty profile comprises two sections:
- "Faculty, research staff, publications, and research interests" is a one-page list of the group personnel and selected publications. "Research interests" is a 25-50 word description of the group’s research interests.
- "Theses awarded" is a list of theses awarded in the present academic year.
