Below is a list of different hotels, both near MIT and within reach of public transport.

The Marriott is located in Kendall Square, just across the street from the MIT campus, and is about a 5-10 minute walk to/from the event space. 

The Kendall Hotel

The Kendall hotel is a historic hotel located in Kendall Square. Across the street from the Marriott, and adjacent to the MIT campus, this hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk to/from the hotel space.

Le Meridien Boston Cambridge
20 Sidney Street
Cambridge, MA 02139

The Meridien is between Kendall and Central Square. It is 0.5 miles from MIT.nano.

Hyatt Regency Cambridge
575 Memorial Drive
Cambridge, MA 02139

The Hyatt is located right on the Charles River. It is about 0.8 miles from MIT.nano. There are complimentary hotel shuttles that from to/from Kendall Square. 

Additional Hotels in Boston

The hotels immediately around MIT can be very expensive. Here are some suggestions of additional hotels that are still reachable via public transport (e.g. the subway stop at MIT is 5 minutes from the conference venue). 

Porter Square Hotel: Three stops from MIT on the MBTA red line, with roughly 20-25 minutes of travel time (walk + subway). 

Sheraton Boston Hotel; Hilton Boston Back Bay - Both located in Back Bay near the Prudential Center, a few stops on the#1 bus to MIT, roughly 15-25 minutes of travel time by bus (or a pleasant 25-30 minute walk).

Transportation

MIT is located in Cambridge, MA just across the Charles River from Boston. We recommend using public transportation as parking in the area is limited.  

Via public transportation
Boston's public transportation system is the MBTA, known as "the T."

  • Subway: From any terminal at Logan Airport, take the Silver Line bus to South Station. At South Station, change to the Red Line subway to Kendall/MIT (inbound toward Alewife). The ride should take about 30 minutes and is free.
  • Bus: The 64, 68, and 85 lines stop near the MIT Welcome Center. The #1 bus stops on Massachusetts Ave, about a 15-minute walk from the Welcome Center.
  • Shuttle: The EZ Ride Shuttle runs to and from Boston's North Station, with stops at Kendall Square and around MIT's campus (Note: EZ Ride is not operated by the MBTA; fare is $2 cash per trip).

Additional Transportation Methods

  • Taxi or rideshare: Taxi fare from Logan Airport about $35-40, and rideshare services range from about $20-35. During non-rush hour, the ride will take about 15 minutes; during rush hour it may take 30 minutes or more.
  • Amtrak: South Station, Boston is the closest train station. South Station is served by the MBTA Red Line, which connects to MIT at the MIT/Kendall Stop
  • Bluebikes: Bluebikes is Boston's public bike share program. There are several stations around campus for renting or returning a bike. Visitors may purchase an Adventure Pass, which is valid for 24 hours. 
  • Parking: Parking in Cambridge and Boston cam be expensive and hard to find. Whenever possible, park where you're staying and use public transportation or a taxi/rideshare service.
