DETAILS
Electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) is a family of techniques that measure the change in kinetic energy of electrons after they interact with a specimen. This technique is used to determine the atomic structure and chemical properties of a specimen, including the type and quantity of atoms present, the chemical state of atoms, and the collective interactions of atoms with their neighbors.
In this workshop Dr. Paolo Longo from Gatan, Inc. will provide an overview of the advanced EELS capabilities focusing on the practice of EELS imaging and analysis in the (S)TEM microscope. Following the lecture, participants will have the opportunity to participate in comprehensive, hands-on remote training on advanced EELS topics. The practical session will be carried out remotely using a CFEG STEM instrument equipped with K3 Continuum.
By the end of the day, participants can expect to get the best out of their EELS spectrometer and know how to optimize experimental conditions in order to capture the maximum amount of information out of their TEM samples using EELS.
