Building 31 Pathway Changes
Building 38/39 pathway restriction
Beginning this week and through August 11 work is scheduled at the gas tanks between Buildings 24 and 38. While this work is underway the pathway at the underpass between Buildings 38 and 39 will be temporarily narrowed. Signs will also direct pedestrians to use Vassar Street to navigate around the temporary sidewalk closure at the south of Building 38.
Work includes the excavation of an area within the tank fence to install pipes. The fence around the gas tanks will be moved to accommodate this work and noise is expected during use of a vacuum truck this week. From Monday- Wednesday of next week jackhammering activity is scheduled in the area and will generate noise.
Building 31 path closure
On July 13 the walking path to the south and east of Building 31 is scheduled to close. The pathway will remain closed for the duration of the Building 31 renovation, which is scheduled to conclude in fall 2017. Signs will direct pedestrians to use Vassar Street to navigate around the path closure. Emergency egress will remain available for Building 31 and updated signage will be posted in the building.
From July 20 - 24 work is scheduled to move a section of the MIT.nano perimeter fence to the east of Building 31.
Please note that while the driveway between Buildings 17 and 31 will remain open during these activities, we recommend avoiding the driveway for pedestrian passage as a heavy volume of construction vehicles use this driveway.
