Work Zones

Bldg. 13 Perimeter Site Fence

Additional viewing windows will be installed at a lower elevation based on feedback from MIT community.

Pedestrian Safety

Installation of signage to discourage bike riding through perimeter walkways will be installed over the next 2 weeks.

General Information

Unforeseen condition – Existing Underground Utility Failure:

  • Work continues repair the unexpected failure of an 8” water line.
  • See activity item 5 on the work zone map for reference.
  • Expected completion date for this scope is 10/27/14.

Unforeseen condition – Bldg. 26 windows (west elevation): Windows on the west elevation of 26 which were treated for acoustic mitigation have experienced and unexpected failure. We are working to resolve this and hope to re-open the pathway to Bldg. 24 in the coming weeks.

Update: Repair work continues and a plan is in place to replace failed single pane glazing with new insulated units.

Main Lot map

Main Lot – Installation of utility infrastructure for Construction Trailers:

  • Utility work will continue over the next 2 weeks to prepare Main Lot for the installation of construction field offices.
  • Work associated with this activity will be noisy at times due to vehicle back-up alarms saw cutting for formwork and general carpentry items.

President's Garden

Presidents Courtyard – Work Zone H:

  • Installation of new fire protection line in work zone H is projected to start the week of 11/10/14.
  • A detailed schedule of the work scope and community impact will be sent out as a campus wide notification in the next 2 weeks.
