COVID protocol changes to gowning

With MIT easing its mask mandate as of Monday, March 14, MIT.nano is slightly adjusting our gowning entry procedures. (Note that the cleanroom class-100/bunnysuit gowning itself is not affected).

Most prominently, we are switching back to a normal pre-gown flow:

  1. Booties
  2. Hairnet
  3. Gloves

That means we have moved the vinyl gloves from the entry area back to their original location in pre-gown.

For the frock-only class 1,000/10,000 spaces, we will not be requiring the itchy beard covers we used to have pre-pandemic. Instead, we will supply optional surgical masks. While optional, we believe users in soft lithography or in U2 will find them helpful in reducing particle contamination to their devices. Our recommendation is to wear them in U2/U24.

We hope these are relatively easy adjustments, but let us know if you have any questions or concerns by emailing mitnano-feedback@mit.edu.
