MIT.nano user trainings

As of August 1, 2020, new and existing tool training is resuming at MIT.nano. Please follow the normal procedures for training requests (i.e.: make sure your process is approved, then email the staff in charge of the tool. See the trainer chart.) MIT.nano is developing and pilot-testing new training procedures for tools not inside the cleanroom (diesaw, wirebonder) by using video and other methods.

New user orientations start the first week of August 2020. Sign up in MUMMS by joining the Atlas training group (so you can see all other requirements). Read more details on new user steps.

  • We are in the middle of making gowning, de-gowning, and cleanroom walk-through training videos for the new orientations. First versions will be ready in the next week or two, and we’ll include them in the new orientations.
  • Our hope (maybe starting September) is to have much of the new user orientation be self-paced, for a faster, easier, and asynchronous new-user experience. We’ll ask for feedback once we get close to that stage.
  • For new users with none or limited fab experience, we are resuming the 1-day hands-on quick-start on August 4. Sign up in the Atlas training group.

Wet bench chemical training sessions: Sign up here.

  • The training covers general wet chemical safety and expectations.
  • Completing the training is a prerequisite for Fab.nano 24-hr access
  • Completing the training will get you CORAL access to solvent, liftoff, and developer benches (no additional in-person training required).
  • Currently, the benches you’ll be able to use with the training are Develop-U10, Develop-U12, Solvent-U06. Additional benches will be added when they go online - e.g. once we set up and start stocking the lower level solvents/developers.
  • Spin-coaters and corrosive benches require in-person training.
  • Check in CORAL whether a wetbench is up. Hint: the benches have plates with their CORAL names on them, to reduce confusion.
