Sample storage units in Fab-12

MIT.nano has single and double storage bins in bay U12 in Fab-12. These can fit small sample carriers, user-tools, 6” wafer boxes, and (with some light maneuvering) even 8” wafer boxes.

Storage units are not self-labeling/self-service. Please email us (mitnano-feedback@mit.edu) to request a storage unit. You then will get an “official” label for your unit. We will eventually automate this process, but it’s not a critical priority right now.

There will eventually be a small monthly fee (around $10/unit) to encourage users to store only necessary items and to avoid indefinite storage, or running out of space too fast.

Some storage units are capable of purging with N2. We currently don’t have them hooked up yet, and N2 costs will be added for those.

For sensitive projects only, we can provide a lock to protect your work/equipment, but this must be discussed with MIT.nano staff—no self-service locks, please.
