Supply limitations: Lab gloves

MIT.nano has received notification of additional supply limitations with Hand Protection Products from our vendors. This includes the nitrile and neoprene-nitrile gloves that are used as chemical PPE in the lab as well as the vinyl gloves that are used as gowning protocol to maintain the cleanliness of the cleanroom. Many of you have seen some signage posted in the lab, but we would like to reiterate that these supplies should be conserved as much as possible. Some ways you can help:

  • Minimize lab entries: plan your work ahead and avoid entering and exiting the lab multiple times per day.
  • Minimize glove changes: only change your gloves when they are dirty or torn.
  • No Double Gloving unless you are adding nitrile gloves for solvent work or nitrile-neoprene gloves for corrosive chemical work.
  • Lab gloves are for MIT.nano lab use only. Do not take them for your private labs or personal use.

Additional guidance will follow as we evaluate other sources to obtain these supplies. The community’s diligence in conserving these supplies will allow the lab to continue operation without interruption.
