Update! Simplified gowning procedures

With MIT now in research ramp-up phase 3, the need to convey gowning storage has been reduced and the addition of Akrobins in TRL as a “storage overflow” has helped us ease storage constraints. With these changes and based on the user feedback, MIT.nano staff have decided that we can simplify our procedures significantly to reduce concerns, user stress, and confusion.

Users no longer engage coral lockers or schedule work-intentions in nanotime. The new procedure is listed below and will be posted in gowning areas on Wednesday, Oct. 21:

  • Enter the gowning area and find an unclaimed (taped shut) locker in 39, or an unlabeled hanger in 12.
  • In 39, put the tape onto the locker and write your name on it.  In 12, label the hanger.
  • Now that locker/hanger is yours for the remainder of the week.
  • If there are no physical lockers available anymore in TRL, you can label a new plastic bag for your gown and use the Akrobins to store it.

Important: Our key COVID-19 precautions have not changed!

  • Only one person per locker or hanger for the week.
  • Never use/share someone else’s locker (or hanger).
  • Always label your locker/hanger.
  • Pay attention and don’t accidentally use other people’s garments by mistake.
