MIT.nano's mechanical / maintenance week will take place January 3 - 7, 2022.
MIT facilities will be carrying out a number of maintenance tasks during this week. The cleanroom will remain open, but some tool-specific disruptions will occur for 2-3 days. Below is a rough overview/schedule. It is interesting to see the complexities of the work ongoing. Most tasks will take place behind the scenes, without any impact on the work inside the lab.
The main disruption for tools will be a shutdown of the process cooling water (PCW) to complete valve repairs. This will take place January 4-6 for the first floor, and January 5-7 for the third floor.
Any impacted tool will be blocked off in CORAL for the relevant duration. If a tool is not blocked off, it will not be affected.
Fire-alarm testing with horns and strobes will take place on Monday January 3 starting early in the morning, and hopefully ending mid-afternoon. Some people may find it annoying to work in the lab during the live testing (due to the periodic strobes, horns, and announcements). TGMS testing and exhaust fan mechanical work may increase the odds of an orderly-exit alarm. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation, if alarms occur.
