MIT.nano loading dock usage guidelines

Using MIT.nano's loading dock requires pre-approval and a necessity to use this specific access point. Follow the steps below to ensure a smooth process for all.

Before you arrive

1. Complete the loading dock request form. Download the PDF. A minimum of 24 hour advanced notice is required.

2. Review entry maps, including height restrictions, so you know what delivery path you will take on campus. Click on each map to open as a PDF. Note that you must use a straight/box truck, not a full (48'+) size trailer.

3. Call owner as specified on the purchase order (PO) to schedule delivery. In addition, please call the MIT.nano lab support phone (617-253-0426) at least one hour prior to arrival.

When you arrive

MIT.nano white board and cone at the loading dock1. Contact an MIT.nano staff member or the person who set up your visit. You will not be able to gain access to the building without assistance. If you don't have their phone number, you can press the respective button on the loading dock phone.

2. Go inside and write your name on the white board.

3. Take one of the orange cones and put it on your vehicle.

When you leave, bring the cone back inside and erase your name from the board. Note, this is for active loading or unloading only. Do not leave your vehicle here for long periods of time while you are not actively using the loading dock.

Parking

If you need to stay on campus after loading or unloading, please park your vehicle. The map below shows some nearby parking options. Click to open as a PDF.

  1. Metered spots on Vassar Street.
  2. Paid parking lot at the corner of Vassar Street and Massachusetts Avenue.
  3. Public garage at 595 Technology Square.
