Call for proposals: Evergrande COVID-19 response fund awards

The Greater Boston Consortium on Pathogen Readiness (GBCPR) has put out a call to Boston area researchers to submit proposals for COVID-19-related research. Proposals are due March 24, 2020, and funding will begin as soon as possible in April 2020. Awards will be made in the $50,000 to $500,000 range. Areas of research include epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnostics, therapeutics, vaccines and clinical management related to COVID-19.

Jarillo-Herrero is the Cecil and Ida Green Professor of Physics at MIT and recent recipient of the 2020 Wolf Prize in Physics. He will present a new platform to investigate strongly correlated physics, based on graphene moiré superlattices.

How the Greater Boston biomedical community is tackling the coronavirus

At a historic meeting held Monday at Harvard Medical School, more than 80 clinicians and scientists, including MIT researchers, came together to commit to a Covid-19 response. Those in attendance set in motion a plan to break down institutional barriers and form a consortium to develop diagnostic tools, treatments, and vaccines with utmost urgency for this new coronavirus epidemic.
