Viewpoints from the MIT Community engaging on climate change: An all-of-MIT approach—Apr. 1

The second of two MIT engagement forums,  co-presented by the MIT Office of the Vice President for Research and the MIT Environmental Solutions Initiative.

As MIT prepares to issue a new Plan for Action on Climate Change later this spring, it is important that we assess both progress to date and areas where new and more ambitious action is necessary. To that end, the Office of the Vice President for Research (VPR) is working with a variety of units throughout the Institute to solicit ideas for how MIT can enhance its actions to address climate change. This forum will feature three conversations between current students, faculty, staff and alumni who have been working in various ways to address the climate crisis.

Adapting MEMS for ultra-low-power sensing & stimuli detection—Mar. 30

How do accurate accelerometers run on a handful of microamperes? How can you design a chip to passively detect audio that has a spectral signature?  In this set of talks, we’ll look at some ways in which MEMS sensors can be adapted to respond to and measure particular phenomena at minuscule power drain.
