The weekly "Happy Complaint Hour" is moving to a new date and time! Join MIT.nano staff on Thursdays at 4pm to discuss fab-related issues or questions.

MIT has adopted Juneteenth as an Institute holiday starting this summer. Because June 19th is Saturday, the Institute holiday is observed this year on Friday, June 18th.

As usual during holidays, the fabs in buildings 39 & 12 will not be staffed and will be open only to qualified 24-hr users, who must follow the buddy policies in each lab. Read more.

Now that we have added extra spinners, MIT.nano staff are renaming some spinners to increase clarity. All user qualifications will be moved over to the new named tool.

We suggest keeping lab notebooks inside the cleanroom. Bringing the notebook outside the cleanroom exposes it to particles, not just on the cover (which can be wiped down), but also the individual pages that cannot be wiped down (especially if the notebook is opened or used outside).

Here are a few suggested options.

The next MIT.nano user meeting will be Wednesday, June 9 at 2 PM EDT. See the approximate agenda in this update.

Fab.nano will observe a holiday schedule on Monday, May 31st in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday. This means the labs will not be staffed and, therefore, will only be open to qualified-24 hour users. The labs will reopen on Tuesday, June 1st, at 8:00 a.m. for all users.

Process Cooling Water (PCW) installation work will take place in 24U / Soft Lithography on June 2 through June 4, from approximately 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM each day.

The new ultracold fridge has been relocated to cleanroom bay 6U, right next to the EBL spinner hood, stocked with HSQ 6%. ZEP, ma-N, PMMA and CSAR are located in the passthrough at the end of that same bay.

The Process Cooling Water (PCW) replacement project schedule has been finalized. This allows us to optimize the remaining Phase II tool move dates throughout the summer.
