Nanoscribe GT2 arrives at MIT.nano

The Nanoscribe GT2 was moved into MIT.nano on September 30. This tool uses Two-Photon Polymerization (2PP) to produce filigree structures of nearly any 3D shape.

A Nanoscribe team member will give two presentations about the tool and its capabilities on Tuesday, October 6. Fab users should check their email for Zoom login information.

Clarifications to the locker-engage protocol

MIT.nano staff have implemented changes to the gowning protocols that should help avoid pre-emptive reservations, which reduce availability and frustrate those coming to the lab. Read the revised procedures in this post.

Fab-39 Mechanical Week: Nov. 16–20

The Fab-39 mechanical week will be November 16–20, 2020. Tools may start to get shut down on Friday, November 13, for tools with no reservations.

Soft-lithography room closed Oct. 1

On Friday October 1, 2020, MIT facilities is scheduled to do maintenance on the soft-lithography (24U) recirculating air handler.

Fab-39 TRL gowning update

MIT.nano staff are increasing TRL gowning capacity by adding “Akrobins” to allow users to store garments in plastic bags. Learn how it works in this post.

Sample storage units in Fab-12

MIT.nano has single and double storage bins in bay U12 in Fab-12. These can fit small sample carriers, user-tools, 6” wafer boxes, and (with some light maneuvering) even 8” wafer boxes. How do you use them? Read more in this update.

Lab frocks are back!

Starting Tuesday, September 8, we will launch the option to use blue lab frocks for the class 1,000/10,000 spaces in Fab-12. More information on gowning options can be found in this post.

Fab-39 MLA-150 information

Some of the MIT.nano staff and users talked to Heidelberg on ways to make the MLA150 in TRL more resilient and reduce problems. Heidelberg will help us make some software changes/updates in the next two weeks or so, which should reduce certain slowdown issues recently observed.
